There is no official list of top Facebook Reels hashtags. This guide sums up Meta's hashtag rules, how to find tags through search, example tags by shop type and how to test them. Checked October 2026.
People searching for top Facebook Reels hashtags usually want a list to copy that makes the video get views. But Meta does not publish a top-hashtag list for Reels in the help pages we checked in October 2026. So this guide gives what can be verified: Facebook's hashtag rules, how to find tags yourself through search, example approaches by shop type, and how to test them on your own Page. For TikTok and Instagram Reels see TikTok and Reels hashtags, a separate article.
Key takeaways
- A hashtag must be one word with no spaces. Numbers work, special characters do not
- Find tags through Facebook search and its related hashtags, not other people's lists
- Pick 3-5 tags that match the video, then compare results in your Page insights
What Meta says about hashtags
The Facebook Help page describes hashtags as turning topics or phrases into clickable links in posts on your timeline, Page or groups, to help people find topics they are interested in. Clicking a hashtag shows a feed of posts that use it, and you may see related hashtags at the top.

NoteSource
The table comes from the Meta Help page How do I use hashtags on Facebook, checked October 2026. App menus vary by version. If you do not see a menu described here, update the app and try again.
What the page does not state is a cap on hashtags per post, and it does not mention Reels specifically. So we do not present the 5-tag figure for TikTok or Instagram as a Facebook rule.
ArticleTikTok and Reels Hashtags That Get Views: How Many to UseHashtags for TikTok and Reels: the five-tag cap, how to choose tags that match your content, and how to test them against your own account stats. Checked October 2026.Do hashtags really get Reels seen
Meta explains Reels recommendations on its Transparency Center page (updated June 19, 2026): an AI system selects and ranks reels using signals such as how often others watched the reel to completion, how often it was viewed, what you recently liked, watched, shared or commented on, the author, and how much the reel's topic matches topics you tend to watch.
That page does not list hashtags as a ranking signal. That does not prove tags do nothing, but it means we cannot confirm from an official page that tags push views. Treat tags as an aid for being found through hashtag pages and search. Actual views depend on content people watch to the end.
TipPriorities
Spend your time on the first 3 seconds and on content people finish, then pick tags. No tag helps a video people scroll past.
Find tags through Facebook search
With no top list to copy, the verifiable method is to search yourself. Meta says that to discover reels not personalized to you, you can use the search feature in the Feeds tab, and results are based on the term you enter.
Write down the video's topic
Use words customers actually type, such as homemade sweets or indoor plants, not a brand name nobody knows yet.
Type it in Facebook search
Try with and without #, such as #homemadesweets, and look at the feed that appears.
Look at related hashtags
Meta says a hashtag page may show related hashtags at the top. Note those that fit your video.
See what people in the feed write
Are the posts in the same area as your video? If they are about something else, skip that tag.
Pick 3-5 tags
Mix one broad tag, tags that match the product type, and a place tag if you sell locally.
The 3-5 range is our advice, not a Meta rule. The point is to keep each tag relevant and results easy to compare.
Example tag approaches by shop type
This table shows approaches, not a list of top hashtags. We have not checked how much each tag is used. The shops are invented. Search in the app before choosing.
Starter tag approaches, not a top list
Scroll the table sideways to see the remaining columns
Use the place tag only if you sell locally or have a real shop. If you ship nationwide, use the product tag instead.
How to write tags in the caption
The Meta Business Help steps for creating a Facebook reel include a description field before you tap Share now, and the hashtag page talks about tags in posts. The two pages do not say it in one sentence, so we suggest typing tags at the end of the description, which is a practical choice.
Reel caption with tags
ExampleExample: an invented shop
Opening: fresh from the oven, the whole street smells good / Detail: cream-filled mochi, 30 made fresh a day / Tags: #homemadesweets #mochi #chiangmaisweets. Numbers in the example are invented.
Write tags in the format Meta allows. Examples that work and that do not are below.
Do
#homemadesweets as one word
#reels2026 numbers are fine
A space between one tag and the next
Don't
#homemade sweets a space means it is not one tag
#homemade-sweets or #sweets$ special characters do not work
So many tags they bury the caption
Hashtag writing rules as Meta states them
Common hashtag mistakes on Reels
Copying a top list from another site without checking it fits the video
Using an unrelated tag just because many people use it
Using the same tag set on every video so results cannot be compared
Expecting tags to rescue a video people scroll past in 3 seconds
Forgetting that Business or creator Page reels can only be posted publicly, so writing captions as if everyone sees them
Test tags with your Page insights
Once you have tags, swap tag sets between videos with similar content and compare each reel's insights on your Page. If you do not see the insights menu, update the app.

Posting time affects the test too. See the 14-day experiment in best time to post on IG, TikTok and Facebook.
Build on Reels people already find
Tags help people find you, but a new shop with few followers makes people hesitate. If you want to look at Page services, see Facebook followers, Facebook likes or Facebook services. Ordered numbers do not replace content and do not guarantee recommendation of your reels.

How many hashtags can I use on a Facebook Reel
The Meta Help hashtag page we checked in October 2026 gives no cap. We suggest starting with 3-5 tags that fit the video, which is our own advice.
Where can I see top Facebook Reels hashtags
The help pages we read have no official top list. Search your topic in Facebook search and look at the related hashtags.
How do I add a hashtag to a Facebook Reel
Type # followed by one word with no spaces in the reel's description. Numbers work, special characters such as $ and % do not.
Can I use Thai hashtags
The Meta Help page says nothing about language. Type a Thai tag in search and see if a feed appears. If not, try updating the app.
Do hashtags make my Reel show up in other people's feeds
Meta lists several recommendation signals and hashtags are not among them on the page we read, so we cannot confirm that tags push a reel into feeds.
Summary
Meta states clear hashtag rules but publishes no top list and does not say tags raise views. Find tags through search, pick 3-5 that fit the video, test them in your Page insights and revisit each quarter. Checked October 2026.
